Itinerary
This is a taste of what your Luxury Gourmet Alps 2 Ocean experience will look like.
Priced from $5995 per person
You will be picked up from Queenstown and transferred to Aoraki/Mt Cook. En route, we will stop for lunch before exploring one of the spectacular walks at Aoraki/Mt Cook. You will be welcomed at your superb accommodation where you will enjoy a 3 course dinner showcasing local produce paired with some of New Zealand’s best wines.
Today you will cycle 65km from Aoraki/Mt Cook to Lake Pukaki. You will cross the Tasman River by helicopter soaking in panoramic views of the mesmerising landscapes below. The cycle trail will take you along the Tasman River to Lake Pukaki.
With Aoraki/Mt Cook as a backdrop, you will cycle 50km from Lake Pukaki to Lake Ōhau. You will follow the trail across the Pukaki Flats – an expansive area of dry grasslands that are characteristic of the Mackenzie Country landscape.
The trail descends down to the lake foreshore, taking you through to the Lake Ōhau where you will enjoy a 3 course dinner at the lodge, your accommodation for the evening.
Today you will reach the highest point on the A2O trail. From Lake Ōhau you will traverse the lower slopes of the Ruataniwha Conservation Park, with stunning views back across the basin to the Ben Ohau Range. You will then climb to the highest point at 900m above sea level. Enjoy the downhill towards Ōmarama. After lunch, you will cycle 15km from Omarama to Sailors Cutting.
Soothe tired legs in a hot tub filled with fresh mountain water at the Omarama Hot Hubs before settling in at your boutique accommodation with dinner.
Today you will cycle 75km from Sailors Cutting to Kurow one of the most scenic sections of the A2O trail. You’ll cross over the Aviemore Dam passing through the ghost town of Wharekuri on the way to Lake Waitaki and the Waitaki Dam.
Enjoy a wine tasting at River T Winery complimented by a delicious platter with produce from the Waitaki Valley. Your glamping experience awaits – where nature meets luxury in perfect harmony. The thoughtfully designed glamping site offers breathtaking views of serene valleys and star-studded skies, creating a magical ambiance.
Cycling 75km past vineyards and farms you will get glimpses of the mighty Waitaki River. Along the way you will be able to visit the Takiroa Maori Rock Art Shelter before riding through the Duntroon Wetlands, a haven for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. The Pacific Ocean awaits as you reach Friendly Bay, an opportunity to capture some great photos to cap off an amazing week completing the A2O trail.
Enjoy some time to look around the bustling historic precinct of Oamaru. Tonight you will enjoy a delicious dinner to celebrate the week at one of Oamaru’s top restaurants.
We will make our way back to Central Otago and Queenstown. Taking in the dramatic coastline of North Otago we will head inland to the Maniototo Plain following the Otago Rail Trail to Clyde. We will stop in historic Clyde for some refreshments and a look around the quaint town, then it’s one hour to Queenstown.

You will be fully supported with this private trip with the Luxury Trail Company, with private van and driver throughout. Daily baggage transfers (1 bag per person only plus a good day pack for riding).

We supply a fleet of excellent, comfortable e-bikes with high spec components. Along with all the accessories you might need like gel seats, panniers and more to ensure a comfortable ride.
