Itinerary
This is a taste of what your Luxury Clutha Classic experience will look like.
You will be picked up from Queenstown and transported to Clyde. Once a bustling gold mining village, today Clyde is famous for its historic precinct, cafes, restaurants and galleries. Enjoy an optional bike ride and explore the local vineyards.
The Roxburgh Gorge Trail: Clyde to Roxbrugh 43km
Today you experience the Roxburgh Gorge Trail – one of New Zealand’s most visually spectacular day rides. The trail follows the mighty Clutha river through the remote Roxburgh Gorge. The middle section of the trail includes a Jet Boat Transfer from Doctor’s Point to Shingle Creek. During your 40 minute jet boat transfer you will explore the schist huts and gold rush relics and learn about the early gold mining days in Central Otago.
The Lake Dunstan Trail: Clyde to Cromwell 41km
Today you will cycle on NZ’s newest and most popular cycle trail – The Lake Dunstan Trail. The trail runs alongside Lake Dunstan from Clyde to Cromwell. You will marvel in the remarkable feat of engineering as you cycle over bridges clipped onto sheer cliffs and pass over swing bridges. Cycle through vineyards, enjoy a wine tasting at Carrick Vineyard & finish your ride at the Cromwell Heritage Precinct.

Yes, return transfers to and from Queenstown. And you will be fully supported privately with The Luxury Trail Co, with private van and driver throughout. Daily baggage transfers (2 bags per person – maximum weight limit per bag – 15kg).

Roxburgh Gorge and Lake Dunstan: Grade 1 to 3 (Easy to Intermediate) The Lake Dunstan Trail includes sections of Grade 3, suitable for regular experienced cyclists with a good fitness level. Contains sections of narrow trail, steep climbs and descents and blind corners. Not suitable for novice cyclists.
